The PORT SECURITY CONFERENCE OF CANADA (PSCC) is in its sixth year as Canada’s premiere national conference and expo on port and maritime security. This year the conference and expo will take place from Tuesday May 15, 2012 – Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

The vision for PSCC came from the need for professional development and technical education, especially during a time of change. PSCC is a forum for practical discussion of how to most effectively implement security in the port environment.

PSCC is a professional development opportunity for those charged with the management and operation of security activities within the port, and will be of interest to operators, regulators, shippers and others directly involved in the successful operation of secure and safe ports.

The structure of PSCC allows delegates to be briefed on current and pending issues and regulations by government and industry officials, and to share practical case studies of effective solutions implemented in real world situations on a daily basis. Sessions on best practices will highlight the most effective ways operators have found to get the job done. The expo gives delegates a chance to see the latest security technologies from world-class solution providers.

PORT SECURITY OPERATIONS CONFERENCE & EXPO : Professional Development and Technical Education In a Time of Change

The 9/11 terror attacks on the United States deeply affected port operations internationally. On July 1, 2004, ports worldwide signified compliance with the ISPS code, and U.S. ports with the MTSA, by registering port security plans in their country and becoming listed on the IMO List of Compliant Facilities. Florida ports have been dealing with regulated seaport security since before 2001. Since 2004, much has changed for operators. Implementation of port security plans has been successful and security is being woven into the operational activities of ports daily. Best practices are being learned, and ways to achieve more with less cost are being discovered. But changes continue, and nowhere is that more true than in Florida and the Gulf Ports.Learn More >>

The 2012 PORT SECURITY OPERATIONS CONFERENCE & EXPO (PSOC) is driven by the need for professional development and technical education, especially during a time of change. PSOC will be a forum for practical discussion of how to most effectively implement security in the port environment.

PSOC will present a professional development opportunity to those charged with the management and operation of security activities within the port, and will be of interest to operators, regulators, shippers and others directly involved in the successful operation of secure and safe ports.

The structure of PSOC will allow for delegates to be briefed on current and pending issues and regulations by government, Coast Guard and industry officials, and to share practical case studies of effective solutions implemented in real world situations on a daily basis.

SMi proudly present their 5th annual Border Security event. This year’s event will be hosted in Sofia, Bulgaria for a second year following on from the great success of it’s debut there last year. The event will be held on Wednesday 29th February & Thursday 1st March 2012. This event forms a key part of Smi group’s growing security portfolio and will offer a global and regional overview of all hot topics surrounding maintenance of Border Security.
Border Security is a continually evolving challenge and although each border has it’s own unique history and issues associated with it, there is opportunity to share and learn from experiences of Border Security professionals from around the world. Border flashpoints and hotspots can be created by political & economic tensions and protecting them is a fundamental element of maintaining national security.
This year’s event returns to Bulgaria and provides a timely appraisal of Border Security concerns in Eastern Europe and around the world. As a relatively new member of the European Union, Bulgaria faces geo-polilcal challenges unlike many of its co-members. Along with Romania, it is also doing everything it can to be accepted in to the Schengen Area. This necessitateseffective border policing and this position as a border security hot spot makes it an ideal and intriguing venue.
